Name: General Iroh, Crown Prince of the Fire Nation
Gender: Male
Age: Around 23 I'm guessing
Element: Firebending, prefers lightning bending
Companions: none (hopefully a messenger hawk soon)
Resides In: Travels with the United Forces, has a home in the Fire Nation
Appearance: standing at 6'1" General Iroh is a symbol of power and strength. His shoulders are broad and his physique consists of hard powerful muscle built over time of training and firebending. Most feel nothing but respect for him just by seeing the power he holds.
Iroh wears his hair simple, short, and usually brushed back, though on days off he lets it fall, somewhat shaggy and unkempt. He never let's it grow too long, and does not care for the traditional hairstyle of a bun traditional with royalty in the Fire nation. His hair is also slightly brown, resembling a shade closer to his great uncle whom he is named after.
Iroh's eyes resemble that of his great uncles as well. A smooth dark chocolate iris that burns with the passion of the Fire Nation, filled with determination, cunning, and wisdom. Anyone who looks into his eyes knows they are in safe hands, or if a criminal, they are in for the ride of their lives.
His clothing is usually that of a general, with a small fire emblem on the collar symbolizing his royalty. Whenever he is not wearing his clothing for the army he wears loose t-shirts or tanktops, always either black or white, and dark blue jeans. He wears the same shoes as with his army uniform.
When he visits his family or is in the fire nation he wears traditional royal clothing of robes, sandals, and a special necklace symbolizing him as the Crown Prince, which he otherwise has locked up in a small chest he keeps in the Royal Palace.
Personality:
Much like a mixture of his grandfather and great uncle, Iroh is very cunning, wise, and level headed. At times he gets hot head and irrational, and wishes for his grandfather to obtain advice from.
Iroh has always been charismatic and easily makes friends. All his subordinates respect him and he treats everyone fairly. Never has he met someone and not easily made friends with them, always understanding someone's situation, never compromising his own. After knowing his grandfather used to be a refugee he understands not to judge anyone as bad unless you know their story, or they're Amon.
When faced with conflict his mind is very strategic, always coming up with ways to best execute a mission and win a battle, or a game of Pai Sho.
Despite being the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation Iroh has trouble with love. That is one battle he fears he will never win. Already at the age of 23 he knows soon he will have to marry, as to secure his line in the throne. Women usually oogle over his body, but when it comes to him trying to talk to them they always seem to turn into just friends.
Backstory:
Born around Summer 147 ASC-10
Born to then Princess Honora, now Fire Lord, Iroh was always treated with respect and taught rigorously the art of firebending. On weekends he attended classes on turning him into a proper young man, teaching him manners, posture, and the ancient meanings behind firebending. On Mondays he would be free to do as he pleased, and usually would sit with his mother and feed turtleducks, or go fishing with his father. Sometimes he would even get to visit the Fire Lord, his grandfather, and learn special techniques in firebending.
Mostly his young life was boring, being so young he was not allowed to do much but train, study, and enjoy royal treatment of course.
Age 10-14
At the age of ten Iroh began his fighting styles training, learning not only techniques for blocking and attacking with his firebending, but also using spears, throwing knives, bows, and even a sword said to belong to his Uncle Sokka, though it was just a plain iron sword at best.
Though he was better at firebending then anything, what came most naturally to him was commanding a ship. At the young age of 12 he was on a small cargo ship with his grandfather when a large storm started brewing. At the time no one could find the Fire Lord, who was captaining. Immediately Iroh started to give orders, and though the older ship handlers were reluctant they listened, surprised as Iroh started steering them toward safety. As they reached the eye of the storm Zuko appeared, putting his arm around him, saying no words, none needed to be said.
After turning fourteen Iroh was allowed to go with his Uncle Bumi on the United Forces ships.
Age 14-18
A week out of every month Iroh would go with his Uncle Bumi, learning hands on how to command a ship, execute battle plans, and in all have a good time. He easily got used to the crazy ship captain, and eventually they ran the ships together.
The rest of the month he studied maps, war tactics, and would sit in the chamber room next to his grandfather as he listened to war hero's talk about the best defenses against any enemies.
At 16 Iroh became a lieutenant under Bumi, being the youngest of his kind. He received his own small battle ship and crew, though he was only allowed to command them under Bumi's presence till he was eighteen. He was fine with this, Bumi usually stayed out of his way, and sometimes would jump his ship to go to his own.
One day Bumi sent a signal to land at a nearby dock to stock up on supplies in a large Fire Colony. After shopping around Bumi brought a young looking girl, maybe twelve, onto his ship, saying they were heading to Air Temple Island.
"A pleasure"
"None at all"
The trip was short lived, and he continued on with his life, a small burning image of the straggly girl in the back of his mind.
His skills continued to improve and by 18 he became a commander.
Age 18-20
Now having his own larger ship and a small fleet under his command, Iroh had again made the feet of becoming the youngest living commander. He now spent almost all his time at sea, sometimes stopping by home to say hello to his mother and grandfather, and flirt with the girls back home, though he never could obtain a girlfriend.
No matter, the sea was his mistress, and he was perfectly content with commanding his men and keeping peace between the four nations and Republic City. His years were not very eventful though, nothing more than minor conflicts.
The summer of his birthday Iroh was named General, and as his first act he was called upon once to bring the one small girl home to the fire nation per personal request of Tenzin and Bumi. He obliged, bringing her home safely. On the trip he learned her name, Shaw, after the great dragons his grandfather danced with. With that trip he became intrigued with her. She was beautiful, but he knew he could not fall in love with an airbender. He was crown prince, he had to have a fire nation wife.
After safely returning her home he went to visit his mother, and take vacation for some time, missing the land for once in his life. He stayed home and off the sea for most the time, until his grandfather stepped down on his twentieth birthday and named Honora Fire Lord. That next week they went sailing on a small cargo ship as his grandfather Zuko explained to him the turmoils of being a fire lord, and how someday it would be his responsibility to lead the nation.
"You are a very successful young man, and you have earned your name."
Age 20-present
Iroh took back his life of living at sea, traveling from colony to colony in all nation help make peace where it was needed. He earned much respect from all nations, and from time to time was called to sit and eat meals with kings and queens and lords and ladies of all nations. But still he felt some small thing was missing in his life.
Spring before he turned 22 he was sailing toward Republic City, wanting to meet with the Council, when he came across a small wooden vessel that seemed un-manned. He ordered his ship to stop and lowered a bridge to the boat. Climbing down he found a passed out, dehydrated, and malnourished Shaw.
He brought her on board, taking her to a room where the on site healers cooled her down and helped water down her throat. They spent all day trying to revive her, but decided she needed rest. He noticed as the put cold wet cloths on her abdomin a small burn scar.
The next day Iroh heard commotion and opened the door in time to see Shaw get sick.
"You're awake. Good! But you need to take it easy, sip the water, and you can only have small portions of food for now."
He handed her a new flask and grabbed the food the healers had left outside the door for her. Sitting at the end of her bed he waited patiently for an hour, giving her all the time she needed. He felt strong feelings for her, but he tried his hardest to deny them.
"Thank you General, I'm glad it was you who found me and not pirates or your crazy commander friend." He smiled at her but then blushed, looking away, the silence awkward.
"We are almost to Republic City, would you like to be dropped-"
"No, I'm going to the city." He nodded. He stood up watching as she propped herself on her elbows. She was so beautiful, and how she had changed as she grew.
"I saw your scar, it's interesting. Where did you get it?" He said, almost regretting the question.
"A gift from the last living dragons." He saw her blush and look away. He gently cupped her face and moved her head to look at him. He knew what he was doing was so unfair to her, as he could not love her, but he kissed her anyway. A gentle kiss, his face turning red as he dropped his hand and looked away before walking out of the room. He avoided her after that.
After dropping her off he left Republic city, heading to patrol the waters, he didn't need to speak to the council. That was till almost a year later when Amon attacked the City and he returned, meeting up with the new Avatar and helping save the city. He wondered if he would see Shaw when the battle was over, and he did when Korra returned her bending, but he never went to talk to her, and instead hid from her sight.
